Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid said in Rawalpindi on Monday that his department has established train quarantine centre for the patients infected with the virus.
“We’ve established seven hospitals at the stations, besides dedicating 65 hospitals and dispensaries for the exclusive purpose of treating the coronavirus patients.”
The minister said that the authorities have formed a 50-bed hospital in case of any emergency situation.
Rashid said that the train service would remain closed until the further orders.
“Currently only freight trains are working as usual. Passenger trains will not be operational until the prime minister decides otherwise.”
While hoping Pakistan will soon recover from the coronavirus, the minister said “Those taking preventive measures are doing a great service for the country,” adding that “the situation is far better in Pakistan as compared to other countries where it is killing thousands of lives worldwide.”
Sheikh Rashid said that he would soon ensure the provision of kits, and asked the concerned people to contact with the government “in case they need to quarantine any patient in any province.”
He said that the next fifteen days are critical regarding the situation emanating from the coronavirus.
