Stormy winds and rains wreak havoc in KP; 5 killed, 14 injured

Severe windstorms and heavy rains wreaked havoc across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Charsadda, and Takht Bhai, resulting in the tragic deaths of five people in various accidents last night.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, in addition to the fatalities, 14 others, among them women and children, suffered serious injuries.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, the weather took a turn late last night as strong winds and dust storms blew through the city, easing the intense heat.

The Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy skies in Lahore today and predicted that the maximum temperature will soar up to 41°C.

However, no rain is expected in Lahore over the next 24 hours, according to the department.

The minimum temperature in the city is likely to remain at 29°C. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 8 km/h with a humidity level of up to 41%.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, overnight rain brought a pleasant change to the weather.

The Meteorological Department predicts that skies will remain partly cloudy in Islamabad for the next 24 hours, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 34°C today.

In contrast, Karachi continues to suffer under scorching conditions. The city is expected to experience hot and dry weather throughout the day.

The temperature had already reached 33°C in the morning, with a "feels-like" temperature of 36°C. According to the weather department, the mercury may climb to 41°C in Karachi today.

Winds are blowing from the west at 15 km/h, and humidity levels have exceeded 50 per cent. Experts have advised Karachi residents to avoid going outdoors unnecessarily between 11 am and 3 pm and to stay hydrated with cool beverages to beat the heat.
