PM Shehbaz calls FWO meeting on KP flood rehab

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday called an emergent meeting on the progress of rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood-affected areas with the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and authorities concerned, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
After returning to Islamabad from the visit to the flood-affected areas of KP, Shehbaz convened a meeting to mull over rehab and reconstruction of roads and communications.
The premier ordered that the chief executives of Discos remain in their cities and awareness campaigns be run.
Earlier in the day, the PM announced a Rs10 billion grant for the flood-affected populace of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as flood relief assistance. In his address to flood-hit people, the prime minister said that the amount would be spent for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-hit people of the province.
The federal government, National Disaster Management Authority and the provincial administration, through close coordination, would ensure transparency and immediate disbursement in the affected areas, he added.
The prime minister opined that it was a collective responsibility of all the governments to work for the provision of relief to the flood-hit public and ensure that the allocated grants should be spent in a transparent manner and upon the deserving people.
