Punjab revises school timings from Feb 2
The Punjab School Education Department has announced a revision in school timings effective from February 2.
Under the revised schedule, primary and junior classes will start from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, while senior classes will last from 8:0 to 2:00 pm.
Earlier, the Punjab Environmental Protection Department had ordered schools to begin classes at 8:45 a.m. as part of anti-smog measures aimed at reducing students’ exposure to hazardous air quality.
That notification remained in force until January 31.
Additional Secretary Schools Ch. Naveed Deerath said the restriction on revised timings was applicable only until January 31, adding that private schools are free to adjust their schedules independently.
He also said that school timings during the holy month of Ramadan would be arranged in accordance with fasting hours.
