Karachi sub-inspector killed in drive-by shooting

A sub-inspector was killed in a drive-by shooting in Knear Northern Bypass in Karachi, police said on Saturday.

SI Yar Muhammad was going home after discharging duty at Gulshan-e-Maymar police station when he came under attack by unidentified motorcyclists.

Police said preliminary probe said two armed motorcyclists ambushed the SI and ran away. The body was sent to morgue and a hunt for the culprits began. Malir SSP Irfan Bahadu reached the post.

Reportedly, this was the fifth attack on police in a month. The provincial chief took notice and sought a report.

On July, authorities issued special directives, urging the policemen not to wear uniforms after duty amid rise in targeted killing of lawmen in the Sindh capital. The warnings include using different ways to destinations.
