The US dollar made further gains against the rupee on Tuesday afternoon as it was available for Rs166.75 in inter-bank rate against the previous day’s level of Rs166.14 after a gain of Rs61 paisas.
Meanwhile, the gold price too continued moving in the upward trajectory as the per tola price of 24 karat gold reached Rs97,000 after gaining Rs500.
On the other hand, the one tola price of 22 karat gold was Rs88,916.
Earlier on Monday, the dollar had closed at Rs166.14 after reaching Rs166.50 earlier in the day, meaning that it gained 60 paisas during trading in inter-bank rate.
The dollar had abruptly lost Rs4 in inter-bank rate against the rupee on Friday after the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) intervened to check the steep upward curve in its value. The dollar was available at Rs165 after reaching another high of Rs169 earlier on Friday morning.
The SBP had pumped around $300 to $400 million into the system to stabilise the exchange rate after the day began with more bad news for the rupee as it became weaker with the dollar reaching the value of Rs169, the highest in the history.
