In a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) patron-in-chief Gohar Ejaz demanded that the letters of credit (LCs) for the textile sector be opened on a priority basis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“Tax refunds of Rs250 billion of the textile sector should be released. Energy rates are very high in Punjab as compared to Sindh. 10 million people are feared to be left unemployed in Punjab,” the letter said.

“Same gas rates should be set for the export sector across the country. For the export sector, electricity rate should be maintained at Rs19.99 across the country. Energy prices for the export sector in Pakistan are highest in the region,” it added.

“The export sector in India gets energy at 8 cents. Energy rate in Bangladesh is 10 cents while it is 16 cents in Pakistan. The prime minister should take immediate measures to save domestic exports,” it demanded.
