ECC approves Rs20b fund to purchase 10m vaccine doses

The Economic Coordination Committee Monday approved the purchase of 10 million coronavirus vaccine doses, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen chaired the meeting during which the finance ministry approved the purchase of 10million doses of coronavirus vaccine.
The finance ministry has also approved a Rs20billion budget to purchase these 10 million coronavirus vaccine doses.
According to the details, the finance ministry would provide Rs20billion fund to National Disaster and Management Authority for the purchase of the vaccine.
The responsibility to administer the vaccine has been given to the health ministry.
According to the official data, Pakistan has so far administered 6,130,509 doses of vaccine with 1,513,144 people got fully vaccinated while 3,180,246 people have received the first jab of the vaccine.
Pakistan has so far mostly banked on China for its vaccination campaign and has also started producing its own vaccine Pakvac with the help of China.
Other than that, Pakistan also has received Astrazanka and Pfizer vaccine doses under the Covax.
