Babusar Top Road closed to all traffic for three days

Authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan have announced the temporary closure of the road leading to Babusar Top, one of northern Pakistan’s most popular tourist destinations, for all types of traffic over the next three days, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to a spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan Police, work has begun to remove snow and debris at Babusar Top and the Gittidas area in order to widen the road and restore two-way traffic.

As a result, the Babusar route will remain closed from Sunday for three days. Officials said all movement between Zero Point, Babusar and Lulusar Lake will be completely suspended from 31 May to 2 June 2026.

Police have advised travellers, tourists and transport operators to use alternative routes and adjust their travel plans accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Officials said the temporary closure is necessary to ensure that road-clearing operations are completed safely and efficiently before the route is reopened to the public.

The advisory comes as increasing numbers of tourists prepare to travel to northern areas during the summer season, making the Babusar route a key transport link for visitors heading towards Gilgit-Baltistan.
