‘Mera Lyari’ wins praise at special community screening in Karachi 

A special screening of the film Mera Lyari, which is based on the story of Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood, drew a large audience and received widespread appreciation from residents and community leaders.

According to attendees, the film presents a positive and realistic portrayal of Lyari, highlighting the area's talent, ambitions and resilience rather than focusing solely on the challenges for which it is often known. 

The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday that the screening attracted a diverse crowd, including children, elderly residents and women, who gathered to watch the production.

Several prominent figures attended the event, including Nabeel Gabol, Nadir Gabol, Khalil Hot and Muhammad Hamad, along with members of the local administration.

Participants praised the film for offering what they described as a constructive response to negative portrayals of Pakistan often seen in some foreign films and television dramas. 

They said Mera Lyari reflects the true character of Pakistani society and presents an authentic picture of life in Lyari.

The film portrays the area as more than a place associated with difficulties and headlines. 

Instead, it depicts Lyari as a community rich in dreams, abilities and hope, where people continue to strive for a better future despite various challenges.

Viewers at the screening said the production successfully brings forward a brighter image of the neighbourhood and showcases the determination and potential of its residents.
