Nepal rewrite T20 history with second 300+ total, powered by Bhurtel’s ton

Nepal delivered a record-breaking batting performance in the Asian Games T20 competition, scoring 313 for 2 in 20 overs against China, one of the highest totals in men’s T20 international cricket history.

The total ranks among the largest ever in T20 Internationals and has drawn widespread attention across the global cricket community for its sheer dominance.

Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtel led the charge with a blistering century, while other batters contributed aggressively to overwhelm the Chinese bowling attack throughout the innings.

During his innings, Bhurtel also struck six consecutive sixes in a single over, matching a rare feat previously achieved in international cricket and famously associated with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.

Nepal had earlier set the record for the first-ever 300-plus total in men’s T20 internationals during the 2023 Asian Games, when they scored 314 against Mongolia. With Sunday’s innings, Nepal have now become the first team in T20I history to register two scores above 300.

Cricket analysts say the performance highlights the rapid rise of Associate nations in the shortest format of the game, with Nepal in particular emerging as one of the most aggressive batting sides in international T20 cricket.
