More transfers, postings made in federal bureaucracy

The federal government has announced a series of appointments, transfers and retirements in the civil bureaucracy, affecting key positions across multiple ministries and departments. The Establishment Division has issued official notifications for all the new postings.

According to the notification, Muhammad Tariq Chohan, a Grade-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), has been appointed the Director General of the National Police Bureau. Chohan was previously serving under the Punjab government.

In another significant change, Adnan Arshad Aulakh, Joint Secretary at the Home Division, has been transferred and appointed General Manager (Administration) at the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

New Appointments in Ministry of Information Technology

Following the approval of the Prime Minister, three new appointments have been made on contract under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).

Muhammad Amir Malik has been appointed Member (International Coordination) for a tenure of three years.

Waqas Abbas has been named Director Technical.

Muhammad Azeem Khan has been appointed Program Director for the Digital Economy Enhancement Project on a two-year contract.

These appointments are part of the government’s efforts to strengthen digital governance and international collaboration in the IT sector.

Other Transfers and Retirements

The notification also confirmed that Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, a Grade-22 officer, has been appointed to the Secretariat Group, pending formal posting in the Establishment Division as of September 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, Shahzad Asif, Deputy Secretary at the Privatization Division, has been transferred and posted Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Rawalpindi.

The government also issued a post-retirement notification for Dr. Abdul Shakoor Abro, a Grade-19 officer of the Secretariat Group, whose retirement took effect on June 13, 2025.

The reshuffle reflects the federal government’s ongoing administrative reorganization aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening coordination among ministries.
