SKMTH Karachi will be opened in December 2022, says Imran

Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Hospital (SKMTH) in Karachi will be opened by December next year.

In a tweet uploaded on Wednesday morning, Imran Khan said the SKMT Karachi construction was moving ahead as per schedule.

The prime minister said this hospital will be twice as big as the SKMTH Lahore and will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

After Lahore and Peshawar, the new Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Karachi, is located in DHA City on 20 acres of land.

It will open as a fully-functional cancer hospital, with all clinical disciplines in place, and equipped with the latest technology, including state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities as well as the latest in treatment planning and delivery systems.

SKMCH&RC in Karachi, at one million square feet of constructed area, is twice the size of the hospital in Lahore, and will have 47 outpatient examination rooms, a 69-bed chemotherapy facility, 288 inpatient beds, 16 operation theatres and 24 intensive care beds.
