The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a ten-page written order on Saturday, directing the authorities to produce ‘missing’ journalist and blogger Mudassar Mehmood Naaru in the next court hearing due on December 13, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah wrote the order in which the court observed, “It is alleged that agencies under the control of the Prime Minister were involved in hindering citizens’ liberties.”

The court directed the Prime Minister to instruct agencies under his control to produce the missing person before the court or find his location as it is the constitutional duty of the federal government to satisfy the family that they are not involved in abduction of people.

“If the missing person would not be traced then the federal government should hold accountable those involved in the abduction of the citizen.”

The IHC ordered if Mudassar Naaru would not be traced in the next hearing then the Attorney General of Pakistan will submit the report about action against the person involved in abduction of Naaru.

Earlier on Dec 1st, Human Rights Ministry Shireen Mazari appeared before the court where the court instructed federal government to satisfy the family of missing journalist and blogger Mudassar Naaru.

The court also observed that it is the prime minister and the cabinet that are responsible for the recovery of missing persons.

On Nov 25, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the interior secretary to arrange a meeting of the legal heirs of missing journalist Mudassar with highest state functionaries.

Justice Athar Minallah issued the direction while hearing a petition filed by Rana Mehmood Ikram, father of the missing journalist.

The petitioner moved the court stating that the state could not satisfy him regarding the status of his son, Mudaasar, who went missing on August 19, 2018.
