Gardezi, Leghari review progress of Jalal Pur and Grater Thal Canals

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahinana Gardezi and Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Khan Laghari chaired a meeting to review progress work of Jalal Pur Canal and Grater Thal Canal Phase 2 and Phase 3.

MNA Malik Ahsan Allah Tawana was also present in this occasion, while Principal Portfolio Management Officer Netes Sokoo Toaat Soka and Senior Water Resource Specialist Asad Ali Zafar participated in the meeting through video link from Manila and Islamabad, respectively.

Secretary Irrigation Punjab, Project Directors and Director General of Agriculture Water Management gave a detailed briefing on both the Projects. Project Directors informed the steps taken for Command Area Development so maximum use of Agriculture Water may be ensured.

Provincial Minister Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahinana Gardezi acknowledged the Jalal Pur Canal and Grater Thal projects for agriculture development. We can minimize our operational losses with the use of new technology. Better opportunities would be available for development in the fields of Agriculture and Irrigation, Minister added. He said it was need of time to take advice from framers and using harvesting technology.

Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Khan Laghari said funding for Grater Thal Canal and Jalalpur Canal by Asian Development Bank would play a vital role in the prosperity of Pakistan.

While addressing the participants Minister Irrigation said that with the completion of Phase 2 Chorha Branch of Greater Thal Canal 2 Lakh 94 Thousand Acre of Area will be well-watered, while One Lakh 70 Thousand Acre of land well-watered  from Tehsal Pind Dadan Khan to District Khushab under Jalal Pur Canal Project.
