Pakistan will never abandon CPEC, vows Asim Bajwa

Says prime minister holds clear vision to realize the Corridor

Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority has said that Pakistan will definitely pursue CPEC project as prime minister holds a very special vision regarding its accomplishment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chairman CPECA Asim Saleem Bajwa was talking to the members of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday. 

Emphasizing the importance of the CPEC project, Mr Bajwa said the whole nation supported this project. He said Pakistan had suffered terrible human and infrastructure loss in the war against terror continued for the last 40 years. He said no power on earth could make Pakistan to abandon this project. He said the prime minister had a very clear vision to realize this venture. 

He said Pakistan had started work on several projects in power generation, fiber optics and infrastructure sectors with the cooperation of China. We have been trying to enhance our bilateral relations with China since 1952, Bajwa said.

He informed that work on a road project from Sukkur to Hyderabad would be started soon after which travel distance between Peshawar and Karachi would be reduced. He said new roads and routes from Gwadar would be completed in a time period of 2 ½ and 3 years.

He said he held a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on CPEC and informed him about the possible investment opportunities in Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (DSEZ). He revealed that Chinese investors had shown interest in making investment in Information Technology and agriculture sectors. 

CPEC chairman said new investors were showing up in Faisalabad, adding that Canadians, Germans and Chinese all were exhibiting their interest in the economic zone. He said Gwadar economic zone had reached its full capacity, adding that 12 factories were being set up in Gwadar zone in which work on 6 factories had been completed. . 

Mr Bajwa said under CPEC, several projects were started in agriculture sector, revealing that prime minister had put his special focus on this sector. 

He said work on Special Economic Zone in Gwadar was going on at full speed and it had entered into second phase. He said with state-of-the-art facilities at Gwadar port, Pakistan was expecting enormous commerce at the port. He said CPEC was also having Ministry of Maritime on board to accomplish this project. 

He told the Karachi chamber of commerce and industry members that during his next visit he would share details of different projects being initiated under the CPEC. He said he would occasionally visit all chambers of commerce in the country and apprised them of the updates of Sino-Pak project. 

He said to regulate power sector, some projects were initiated. He said meetings were being arranged between foreign and local investors. He, however, said that human efficiency index in Pakistan was not very impressive and 72 institutions were picked to train their human force.
