King of comedy Umar Sharif’s funeral prayers was offered on Monday at local Turkish mosque after Zuhr prayer at Germany Standard Time (GMT+2) in Nuremberg Germany, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Maulana Ashraf Qadri led the funeral prayers of Umar Sharif. Staff of Pakistan Embassy and Counsel General in Germany participated in the funeral prayers.   

Probably, Umar Sharif’s dead body will be shifted to Pakistan on Tuesday from Munich to Karachi via Qatar Airways.

Pertinent to note that the average direct flight time between Pakistan and Germany is 6 hours 27 minutes.

Family sources said that Umar Sharif's wife Ghazal Umar will also come back with the comedian’s body.

Pakistan Ambassador to Germany Dr. Muhammad Faisal said Council General (CG) Pakistan in Frankfurt and Pak Embassy in Germany were in constant contact with the accompanying family of late Mr. Shariff.

He said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has instructed all possible help and assistance for the repatriation of the deceased.

Film actress Reema Khan said that she along with her husband had made all the preparations for the arrival and treatment of late legendary comedian Umer Sharif in the US.

Pertinent to note that as per German law, a death certificate is mandatory before carrying the dead body out of the country.

On Sunday, the local courts were closed so now today (Monday) death certificate will be issued and the body will be flown back to Pakistan on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab said the Sindh government has issued a directive to the Auqaf department to make all necessary preparations to bury Umar Sharif at the graveyard linked to the shrine of Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi as per the wishes of late Umar Sharif.

Jawad Sharif, son of Umar Sharif, told media persons that his late father wished to be buried in the Shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi.
