Giving an explanation for tripping at Jamshoro Grid Station on September 1, 2021, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has said the incident happened after lightning struck the station, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.   

After the station was struck by lightning, the electricity produced from wind energy exited from the system.

The NEPRA, in its declaration issued on Tuesday, also slapped Rs10 million in fine on the National Transmission & Despatch Company Limited (NTDCL) for failing to ensure uninterrupted power supply following the partial power breakdown in the areas covered by Karachi-Electric (K-Electric).   

The Authority had said it took the NTDCL two and half hours to restore the supply of electricity to K-Electric. 

It had also ordered the NTDCL to constitute a committee to probe the incident following which it imposed fine on the latter. 

NEPRA had also issued a show-cause notice to the NTDCL in this connection. But the latter failed to give any answer in the stipulated time period.
