In a surprise move by the provincial government, the Sursabz Punjab Project of the plantation has been gifted to the Communication and Works Department. 
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Punjab government handed over the project to the C&W Department as its funds were not used due to a lack of attention toward it.
The government had deducted a one per cent fund from the development projects but was not utilized for the plantation campaign in the province of Punjab.
Instead of Forest Department and PHAs, the Punjab Government assigned the task of plantation to the Communication department. 
As per the report, the plantation along the sides of the roads will be done by the C&W department now and it will be allowed to use the allocated funds for the project.
