Death toll from floods reaches 1,290 as 26 more die

As many as 26 people died and 11 other sustained injuries due to floods during last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday. 

According to the latest flood update released by the National Flood Response Coordination Centre (NFRCC), 26 deaths were reported across the country and 11 people got hurt due to floods. 

The overall death count since June 14 has reached 1,290 out of which 570 were males, 259 were females and 453 were children. However, 12,588 people received injuries, the NFRCC said. 

In Balochistan, the traffic on M8 is disrupted and there is land sliding in 24 km section of Wangu hills.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, N-50 road is open for traffic except breached section of Sagu Bridge. Preparation of approaches on both sides of Sagu Bridge is in process. 

N-95 (Madyan) is blocked between Behrain and Laikot (27 km).

In Sindh, N-55 from Mehar Johi Canal to Khairpur Nathan Shah has been closed after it was submerged by flood water.

The rail services which have been affected due to floods include: 

(1) Balochistan - Quetta to Taftan 

(2) Balochistan–Sindh - Quetta to Sibbi to Habibkot 

(3) Punjab-Sindh - Hyderabad to Rohri to Multan

(3) Sindh - Kotri to Lakhi Shah to Dadu 

The NFRCC said that 29 Army teams are surveying different locations in Quetta, Pashin, Loralai, Dhuki, Surab, Jaffarabad, Sohbatpur, Awaran, Lasbela, Gawadar, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Musakhel, Washuk, Kohlu, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Nasirabad, Kachhi, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Sherani, Zhob, Kharan, Kalat, Mustang and Chaman.

It said that 31 districts were affected by floods/rains in Balochistan; 23 in Sindh; 6 in Gilgit-Baltistan; 17 in KP; 3 in Punjab; and none in AJ&K. 

The total number of population affected by recent floods/rains across the country is 33,046,329. 

In Balochistan, 9,182,616 people have been affected; in GB 51,500, in KP 4,350,490; in Punjab 4,844,253 and in Sindh 14,563,770 people have been hit by floods.
