A 37-year-old man, admitted at the AIIMS Trauma Centre over chances of being infected with coronavirus, jumped off the third floor of the hospital on Saturday night. He survived the suicide bid, reported Indian media on Sunday.

The patient has survived with a fractured leg and is stable as of now. His coronavirus test results are still awaited. The man was undergoing treatment at the AIIMS Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre when he jumped off the third floor of the hospital. He is a resident of Mata Sundri Road in Delhi’s IP Estate area. He was admitted to the hospital on March 31.

On Saturday night, he jumped off the building and landed on tin roof below and then fell on the ground. The reduced impact saved his life.

A number of people who have been quarantined over fears of coronavirus have committed suicide across Indian states.

Earlier a patient who was quarantined at the Safdarjung Hospital upon arrival in India committed suicide by jumping off the building.

An elderly couple allegedly committed suicide in Amritsar on Friday over fear of getting infected by coronavirus.

A suspected coronavirus patient allegedly committed suicide in the quarantine ward of a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district a few days ago. His test results that came later said he didn’t have coronavirus.
