Students choose streets, twitter for demand ExamCancelHoga

A large number of students belonging to Matric, Inter, O-Level, A-Level and Cambridge International students staged a protest outside at The Mall, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasar Humayun also participated in the protest of Matric, Inter, O-Level, A-Level of Cambridge International.

Students urged the government to postpone the exams amid the third wave of the coronavirus where NCOC has already suspended classes in all educational institutions across the country.

The TV channel reported Hasan Niazi, nephew of Prime Minister Imran Khan, urged the students to stage sit-in in front of Lahore Governor’s House.

On social media, students use Twitter hashtag #ExamCancelHoga and #cancelboardexams to press their demands.

Twitter user Muqadas Man tweeted, “The covid cases have Increased a lot from past few weeks and everything is getting closed from shops to wedding halls but except exams. The students have been demanding to cancel all the exams in Pakistan by protesting in every city.”

Hassan Niazi tweeted a video in which he claimed that police threatened the protesting kids with guns. He said, “Its peaceful protest. Peaceful protest is their right. You touch one kid and we will block the GT road tomorrow.” He also posted similar protests video being staged in Hyderabad, Bhukkar, Jhang and Sheikhupura.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood said on Sunday that the education and health ministers of federal and provinces will meet at the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) on April 6 (Tuesday) to decide whether to open or further close educational institutions.

Shafqat Mehmood said the exam situation will also be discussed. “Whatever is decided will be a collective decision of the country’s health and education authorities and NCOC,” he added.

All the educational institutions are closed till April 11 in the wake of the third wave of covid-19.

Interestingly, on March 26, Dr Murad Raas, Punjab Education Minister said, “Ignore all tweets wherever they are coming from. Anything to do with Punjab will be tweeted by me. Please be patient, dates will be announced in a day or two. Relax. These amounts of calls and messages are insane.”
