Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal Monday lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the establishment of Damage and Relief Fund, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said that the floods had caused a loss of at least $30 billion, adding that establishing the Damage and Loss Fund was a great achievement of Pakistan.

The federal minister pointed out that the floods had incurred a loss of 10 per cent of the global GDP which, what he said, was a significant loss for the developing countries.

“Pakistan has performed best in terms of disaster management as all the institutions, civil society and government worked together,” he stated.

“The carbon-emitting countries should realise what damage they have done to the developing nations,” he emphasised.

“The National Flood Response Centre has achieved its goals, but the task of flood relief and rehabilitation is yet to be completed,” he averred.

He also mentioned that brotherly countries had helped Pakistan immensely during difficult times.
