Punjab government has given the green signal to conduct local bodies election in the last week of April 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The local Government Department has sent a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and gave assurance that all homework has been completed to conduct local bodies election in the last week of April 2023. The Local Government Department has also prepared election rules and sent them to the Law Department.

Local Government Department Secretary Syed Mubashir Hussain confirmed that the department has formally informed the ECP that all arrangements have been finalized to conduct local bodies election in April 2023.

He said that the Finance Department will release rupees 10 billion this month to cover the expenses of local bodies elections.
