Bid to smuggle 360kg heroin in sanitary pipes foiled

Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Saturday intercepted and foiled an innovative way to smuggle 360kg heroin hidden in sanitary pipes consignment booked for the UK, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The authorities have launched an investigation against the company which booked the consignment for the UK.

The sanitary pipes were checked at the Jinnah International Karachi Airport where ANF personnel opened them and found the heroin secretly hidden in them. 

Separately, the Punjab government has decided to build six drug rehabilitation centers at the cost of Rs9 billion across the province as drug addicts surge to 3.5 million in the province including 0.7 million in the capital metropolis alone.
