A plane on its way to Saudi Arabia escaped a disaster soon after it took off from Islamabad International Airport on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel, quoting sources.

A plane belonging to a private airline developed a technical fault soon after it departed from Islamabad Airport.

The pilot immediately alerted the air traffic controller and sought permission to land at Islamabad Airport.

The air traffic controller allowed the AirBlue plane to make a technical landing, after which the pilot expertly managed to touch down the plane at Islamabad Airport.

Engineers are now working on the plane, said the sources, adding the plane is expected to take off for Saudi Arabia in the noon.

The airport authorities informed that the passengers have now been shifted to the lounge and they are being looked after properly.
