Parts of the provincial capital, Lahore, and some other districts of Punjab received rain late Sunday, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported.

Reports of rain were received from Mall Road, Ichhra, Jail Road, Regal, Mazang, Abid Market and Shadman areas of Lahore.

The weather turned pleasant bringing relief to the heat-hit people of the capital in which light showers followed windstorms.

Also, Bhawalnagar district of Punjab and its adjoining areas received showers, providing the locals with relief from the the heatwave.

Earlier, the Met Office predicted start of monsoon spell start. The monsoon currents were penetrating upper and central parts of the country and likely to continue during next two to three days and a weak shallow westerly wave was affecting northern areas, it added.
