WAPDA employees enjoy annually 391m units free electricity worth Rs5.25b

The employees of Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) enjoy free electricity worth Rs5.25 billion annually, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Sunday.

According to the details, WAPDA employees including the staff of all DISCOs are officially allowed to use a total of 391 million units of electricity free of cost annually.

The channel report said that there are a total of 1,98,000 employees of power distributors and generating companies who use free electricity.

Some free units of electricity are available to each and every employee of Wapda and power distributing and generating companies from Chief Executive Officers to peons.

There is a total of 48,000 officer ranks employees and 1,50,000 junior staffers in the Wapda and power distributing and generating companies who are getting the privilege of free electricity supply.

Employees of Grade 1 to Grade 4 have a right to use 100 units of free electricity per month while Grade 5 to Grade 10 enjoyed 200 units free of cost per month.

Grade 11 to Grade 15 employees consume 300 units per month free of cost while 450 units of electricity are available free of cost to Grade 16 to Grade 17 Officers.

600 units of free electricity are allowed to Grade 18 officers and 800 units to Grade 19 officers while the officers of Grade 20 to Grade 22 use 1,300 units of free electricity per month.
