At least 15 lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allies went ‘missing’ after a meeting of the ruling alliance on Friday morning.

According to reports coming from Islamabad, these lawmakers of the ruling alliance were not found in their rooms after the Friday morning meeting. They did not attend the meetings, which took place later in the day on Friday. All attempts to reach these people have failed so far. There is speculation that these lawmakers might have left for something urgent.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced on March 3 that he would take the vote of confidence from the House on Saturday, March 6. The move came after former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani defeated PTI candidate Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the Senate election. The opposition parties however rejected the prime minister’s decision to seek the vote of confidence, saying that he should resign immediately.
