Prime Minister Imran Khan hosted a luncheon in honour of coalition partners Thursday at Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad where leaders were more interested in reminding the premier of the unfulfilled promises but also expressed full support to the PTI government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Prime Minister Imran Khan discussed political and economic affairs with the coalition parties and assured them that a mechanism has been evolved to redress the issues being faced by the coalition partners in their constituencies.

“When we got the government the country was near default but first time in the history the current account deficit became positive in our government due to round-the-clock efforts of our economic team,” Imran Khan said.

He said the Opposition parties were hell-bent upon damaging the country but the PTI government would not let them do that.

The main complaint the PTI partners lodged was the paucity of funds and development projects for them, the TV channel reported, quoting its sources.

During the luncheon, Imran Khan took the coalition partners into confidence over the country’s prevailing political situation and assured them of resolving their issues soon.

Among others, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Adviser to Prime Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry and Sindh Governor Imran Ismael and KP Governor Shah Farman attended the luncheon.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) was represented by Syed Aminul Haq and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Fehmida Mirza represented Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Balochistan Awami Party was represented by Zubaida Jalal and Jamhoori Wattan Party’s Shahzain Bugti attended the meeting.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed represented Awami Muslim League, the TV channel reported.

PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi tweeted and reminded the Prime Minister that PML-Q is a coalition partner of the government only in vote but not in ‘khaanay’ (lunches).

Earlier in the day, Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi and Federal Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema have opted to stay away from the lunch, the TV channel reported.
