Dengue infects 165 more people in Punjab

Dengue infected another 165 people across Punjab with the most cases 126 were reported in capital Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Punjab Health Secretary Sikandar Imran Baloch said that around 24 cases of dengue fever were reported in Rawalpindi, four in Gujrat, two each from Faisalabad, Attock, Sialkot, Nankana Sahib while one each from Sheikhupura, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan.

The latest cases in the last 24 hours (Monday) took the tally to 2,587 this year.

Health Secretary said that currently 319 patients with dengue fever were admitted in different hospitals across the province including 170 in Lahore with the most number of patients in Ganga Ram Hospital (33), Jinnah Hospital (30), and Farooq Hospital (15).

He said that Islamabad Quaid-e-Azam Hospital has 26 dengue virus-infected patients and Policlinic Hospital has 26 patients.

Health Secretary said that teams checked 347,550 indoor and 66,476 areas across Punjab and discarded dengue larva from 1,348 sites. 

He appealed to religious scholars to sensitize people about dengue fever and its prevention tips in their weekly Juma sermons.
