A neurosurgeon at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Dr Aniqa Mumtaz, has been crying for help against her husband and police, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, she alleged her husband Mudassar with the backing of local police has been airing rumours about her character assassination on social media.

"My husband, who is an employee in the dentistry department of Pims Hospital, has subjected me to torture,” she said.

“We had a fight as I reached the Karachi Company police station for filing a complaint against him last Saturday. I contacted the police but to no avail,” she said. Dr Aniq also complained about the mistreatment by an ASI, Sadiq.

“I tried to convince the police officer that she had filed a complaint against her husband at the helpline but the ASI did not listen to her and started hurling abuses at me,” she lamented.

“As I reacted to the ASI’s abuses, my husband filmed me shouting at the police, and with the connivance of ASI Sadiq, he made an edited video viral on social media.

She said she belonged to a respectful family and how she could shout at someone in this manner without justification. She said the IG Islamabad police should have taken notice.
