Sporty Canadian HC plays ice hockey in Hunza

The ongoing winter games in Gilgit Baltistan (GB) have not only lured tourists into the region but the Canadian High Commissioner (HC) in Pakistan Wendy Gilmour also could not hold herself back and visited Hunza, played ice hockey with the children and also danced to local tunes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Addressing the elders and notables of the area at the ground of the historic Baltit Fort on the occasion, the high commissioner, on behalf of the Canadian government, also assured Pakistan her country’s full cooperation for the promotion of winter games in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).

She further said Canada was also ready to assist Pakistan in dealing with the phenomenon of climate change and mitigating its effects.

Later, Wendy mingled with the local children and taught them the skills of ice hockey as well as ice skating.

She also gave away the prize of ice hockey kit to the winner of Niltar ice hockey competition.

She also attended a cultural show, organised under the auspices of Town Management Society, Karimabad, and danced with the locals.
