China ship carrying 50,000 tons urea to reach Pakistan on Feb 10

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Wednesday had approved the import of 50,000 tons of urea from China on an immediate basis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The ECC approved the urea import with subject to clearance from the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority.

In a tweet uploaded on Thursday, Fawad said that the first ship of urea from China will reach Pakistan on February 10.

He said that 0.6m tons local fertilizer will also be available in the local market as well. 

Fawad claimed that Pakistani farmers will not face any shortage of fertilizers when it is available on inflated rates in the global market.

On the other hand, the problems of farmers in Jhang have not been solved as long queues have been formed in the market as well as in the shops. Farmers are forced to travel 70 to 80 kms to get fertilizer.
