30 mentally-challenged patients escape Karachi hospital

In an unusual ‘mental hospital escape’, more than 30 mentally-challenged patients fled the facility situated in North Nazimabad, Karachi, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel on Friday. 

Once the patients got out of the confines of the mental health facility and were on the loose, they slammed the doors of nearby houses with sticks. They also damaged vehicles parked outside these houses. 

While fleeing, they got hold of the hospital’s security guard and gave him a good thrashing.

According to police, a mentally-challenged patient drove away a jeep. However, they recovered the vehicle parked a few miles away. 

Police informed that the incident was occurred on Thursday noon and they took into their custody some of the patients. But many of them have managed to escape, they added.
