At least 16 people died and 20 sustained injuries in a road accident near the Hub district of Balochistan.

A truck carrying around 100 pilgrims fell into a ditch on Shah Noorani, police said.

Several people are still trapped under the truck, the lawmen added. The injured were rushed to a hospital.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of human lives and extended condolence to the bereaved families.

He also prayed for earlier recovery of the injured.
