Students of grades 1-8 will return to schools in Islamabad from Monday (tomorrow) onwards after the government gave a go-ahead for the resumption of in-person classes. The schools are already conducting classes for grades 9-10.

The decision came after the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) gave the approval for in-person classes, after seeing a decline in the coronavirus cases of the federal capital.

In a notification, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which oversees public sector schools and colleges in Islamabad, said the exam schedule for grades 1-8 would be announced soon.

The National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday said all educational institutes in districts with a low coronavirus positivity ratio could reopen from Monday, June 7.

The NCOC, in the statement, did not specify what it considers a low positivity ratio, but last month it had said educational institutes in districts where the ratio was less than 5% could reopen.
