Ali Zaidi sends defamation notice to Miftah Ismael

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi on Thursday sent a defamation notice to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and candidate in NA-249, Karachi West, Miftah Ismail, demanding Rs100 million in damages, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The notice states that Miftah had accused Zaidi in a TV talk show of evading tax and buying people’s votes by giving them funds under the ‘Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme’. 

The federal minister warned the PML-N leader of legal action if the latter did not reply within 14 days.

Earlier, on April 28, 2021, Adviser to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior (Federal Minister) Mirza Shahzad Akbar had sent a legal notice to ex-DG FIA Bashir Memon to either retract from his accusation of pressuring him to open inquiries against the political opponents of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) or pay sum of Rs500 million as a compensation for causing irreparable damage to his reputation.

He had also asked him to pay Rs2 million in the legal fee.
