Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi Tuesday appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed to take a suo moto notice of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch.

He was talking to a press conference along with the Information Minister Shibli Faraz on the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) reports released by the Sindh government a day earlier.

Zaidi said: “I directly as an elected MNA from Karachi and a true follower of Imran khan make a passionate appeal to Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan. Sir I have never met you but please take a suo moto notice.”

He said come what way he will face all the consequences of the suo moto notice and if nobody will go into the court, he will file an appeal.

He claimed that the JIT report on Uzair Baloch that was issued by Sindh government contained huge discrepancies and did not match with the original one.

Zaidi said everyone has seen the statement of confession of Uzair Baloch. The Sindh government has issued the JIT report that has contained six signatures of the JIT members and showed a JIT report that contained four signatures including ISI (federal government), IB (federal government) , Pakistan Rangers (federal government) and MI (federal government) officials on every page.

He again narrated the JIT which he had already read in the National Assembly.

Zaidi criticised the Sindh government’s issued JIT report for not having important information such as "why Uzair Baloch committed the murders, on whose orders and who benefited from them".

He said even Nabil Gabool has called the JIT report incomplete. “We are here to bring change and it is our obligation to implement the reward and punishment concept of Allah Almighty.”

Zaidi also played the recorded video clips of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari with host Hamid Mir and Senator Yusuf Baloch addressing a gathering in 2013 and Uzair Baloch statement saying he would try to win the PPP candidate in the 2013 General Elections.

Reading from the JIT report, Zaidi said that Uzair had confessed that he met former chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and PPP leader Faryal Talpur to have the head money on him waived off.

He said that at the last page of Baloch's sworn statement, the Lyari gangster had said he feared for his life, which he believed was under threat from Zardari and other politicians.

The minister emphasised that the Sindh government had released the Baldia factory fire JIT report on Monday "with great difficulty", saying that the report said that the "gory act of Baldia factory is a glaring example of police inefficiency".

"When Sindh Police SP Rizwan released the report, he was transferred to Shikarpur," Zaidi disclosed. "Farhan Ghani removed an honest police officer."

He said that the Sindh government had been reluctant to release the JIT report and said that its release would prove to be harmful to the nation's security. "Those who were making [critical] speeches in the assembly were patrons of gangsters in the JIT report," he said, taking a shot indirectly at the PPP leadership.

The minister said that the original report was 43 pages long while the one released by the Sindh government was based on 35 pages. He said that the original report, which contained the signatures of the four representatives of the JIT, contained the names of Dr Zulfikar Mirza, Faryal Talpur, Abdul Qadir Patel, Nasir Morai, Yousuf Baloch and Sharjeel Inam Memon. "The 'friends' named in the report that they [Sindh government] released, does not contain these six names.

He said that this report contained signatures of everyone except for the Sindh government. "The Sindh government has issued another JIT report," he said, adding that the document released by the provincial government contained signatures on only four pages.

"There are signatures on every page of the JIT report that I have with me," he said, adding that he was not afraid of the PPP taking legal action against him.

Senator Shibli Faraz said: "We want to rid the people of those who support gangs. Ali Zaidi raised this issue in the National Assembly because we believe that the purpose of JITs is to tell the people the facts.”

He said Sindh Chief Secretary did not reply to my two letters then he submitted an application for releasing the JIT reports in The Sindh High Court. The JIT was issued on the orders of SHC.
