A citizen, perusing his passion for the unique number plate, bought a number of series LEB ‘1’ worth Rs1.51million in an auction held Tuesday in Lahore, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported.

The buyer, Attiqullah, is a resident of Wapda Town, Lahore, who agreed to pay a sum for the number plate worth price of a car.

The Rs1.51million bid also set a record in the auction history of the number plates being the most expensive. The bid broke the last year’s record of Rs1.1m for number plate ‘1’.

Another buyer has also set another bid record when he purchased number plate ‘5’ for RS825000, which is record high bid for the said number.

The auctioning of LEB series number plates has taken place in Town Hall under the supervision of ETO Tariq Butt and Inspector Riyaz Cheema.

Around 1604 number plates have been proposed for the auction. The auction has been underway following the SOPs amid coronavirus fears.

The story is based on Ali Sahi’s reporting.
