A policeman embraced martyrdom and four other cops injured when a bomb blast ripped through a police picket in Mardan on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A large contingent of police arrived at the blast site where police personnel were trying to figure out the nature of the blast.

Later, SP Investigation Rana Sanaullah informed media men that the bomb was detonated through remote-control. The device weighed about 10kg, he added.

Rescue ambulances and medical teams rushed to the site to help the injured.

A bomb disposal squad also arrived at the blast site to carry out an inspection.
