The financial expert hired by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) told the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday that the party had even disclosed the amounts it had received from abroad which the scrutiny committee did not, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the party’s foreign funding case, Najam Shah said that although there was a mention of $2 million that landed in PTI’s bank account from Dubai in the committee’s report, it failed to report the funds the party had received from the UK.

A three-member bench of the ECP, headed by the chief election commissioner (CEC), is hearing the case.

Akbar S. Babar, the petitioner, was also present on the occasion.

Najam went on to add that these were all ‘declared and audited’ accounts of the PTI in which it had received funds. “The sum sent to us from Denmark also landed in an audited account,” he said, adding, “However, there are several issues with the Australian chapter of the party.”

When the CEC reminded Anwar Mansoor, counsel for the PTI, that these details had already been shared with the election commission, the counsel replied that the purpose of repeating all this over and over again was not to give an excuse to the party’s opponents to make false and fabricated allegations against the party.

Later, the ECP adjourned hearing of the case until tomorrow (Wednesday, June 8, 2022).
