A 12-year-old girl has created a big example of honesty when she returned a bag full of foreign currency to its owner in Kotli, Azad Kashmir, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

The sixth grader 12-year-old Samiya Batool was going to school when she found a bag in Nullah Baan, in Sairy Khoi Ratta. She picked it up. When she reached home, she told her parents about her discovery. Her family opened the bag and found lots of foreign currency notes worth Rs4 million and documents inside the bag. They immediately contacted the owner of the bag whose whereabouts they came to know through these documents.

The owner of the bag, Sohail Armani, was so happy with the honesty of Samiya Batool that he gave R100,000 to the girl as a reward for her honesty.

He said that he had lost his bag five months ago. There were foreign currency notes and his very important documents in the bag. He said he tried his best to find his bag but to no avail. He stated that he had almost lost hope to find it when he got a call from Samiya’s family who told him about the discovery of his bag. He said he was really impressed by the honesty of the girl who though belonged to a humble background, but she created a towering example of honesty.

When the word of Samiya’s honesty spread throughout the town, she instantly became a star on social media. Even Health Minister Nisar Ansar Abdali visited her home and announced that the government would bear her educational expenses for life.

The story of Samiya’s is a true depiction of the maxim: Honesty is the best policy.
