NAB Laws: Three amendments proposed in PM’s meeting with bureaucrats

Senior bureaucrats Saturday termed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Act a ‘draconian law’ and proposed three major amendments in a special meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the inside story of the meeting of senior bureaucrats with the Prime Minister has come to light and proposed major amendments have surfaced.
The channel report said in a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, senior bureaucrats termed the NAB Act as a draconian law on which he assured them of changes in the NAB rules and took them into confidence.
The sources said that after the amendments, no accused can be kept in custody for 90 days as the NAB could take maximum remand of 14 days of the accused person after the arrest.
And, the sources said on completion of the 14-day remand of the accused, a bail application could be filed in the court. But the accused person will remain on judicial remand if the bail cancels.
As per the proposed amendments, no one will be arrested before the investigation of the allegation and NAB will be responsible for proving its allegations.
