Industrialists in Karachi on Wednesday declared the federal government responsible for the destruction of industries, which, they said, wanted to shut down the entire sector, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference, the members of SITE (Sindh Industrial Trading Estate) Association blasted the federal government for its policies and said even the price of RLNG (regasified liquefied natural gas) had not been determined so far.

The unending suspension of gas supply had resulted in closure of industrial units, they said amid the severe shortage of the essential fuel in Sindh.

Amid this situation, the top businessmen regretted that the RLNG price was first fixed but later changed the very next day.

They said everything – from basic infrastructure to roads – was in shambles with no gas or water, questioning how the industries could function in the given scenario.

However, the SITE Association representatives did not spare the Sindh government too and demanded that the SITE Limited currently run by the province should be dissolved and handed over to the industrialists.

The Sindh government, they alleged, was distributing the property tax among the politically-appointed employees of SITE Association instead of spending the money on the industrial area.

It is worth noting that the SITE is sprawling industrial in Karachi which houses around 2,400 large and medium industrial units providing jobs to hundreds of thousands of people. It was established in 1947.

As a whole, the SITE Limited currently runs eight estates: Karachi, Super Highway, Nooriabad, Kotri, Hyderabad, Tando Adam, Nawabshah and Sukkur.

Meanwhile, another industrial area is being developed near Arija village 14 kilometres from Larkana on Larkana-Mohenjo-daro Road.
