Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday seeking aid for the flood-hit people in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The chief minister in the letter said that 20 districts of Sindh including Karachi have been severely affected by the floods and the Sindh government is now looking for help from the central government to help the victims who lost their houses and faced severe economic loss as floodwaters have destroyed crops in the interior of the province.

Murad demanded from the federal government to help the provincial government in the rehabilitation of the flood-hit villages and cities.

The Sindh government is seeking help from the federal government other than the package announced for Karachi by the prime minister during his visit to the megacity on Saturday.

It is pertinent to note that Imran Khan announced Rs1,100 billion package to provide basic infrastructure to the citizens of Karachi, as the city is grappling with the crisis triggered by unprecedented rains in the current monsoon season.

Meanwhile, Murad Ali Shah on Monday visited Sukkur Barrage to review the flood situation after heavy rains.
Irrigation officials, while briefing the chief minister on the current situation, said that Guddu Barrage is experiencing a high-level of water while Sukkur Barrage is experiencing moderate flooding.
Murad directed the AIG to provide security to the personnel working on the repairs of the embankments.
Murad said that he had informed the Prime Minister about the damage caused by the rains in Karachi. He further said 136 people lost their lives in the rains and 2.3 million people in 20 districts were affected by the rains.
