Criticizing the opposition, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Saturday Chaudhary said that this leadership would not be available in the next elections and if our system was similar to that of Saudi Arabia, billions would have been recovered by now.
Talking about the incident in Murree during a press conference with Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood in Lahore, Fawad said the administration of Murree and the Punjab government had been saying for a week to review the travel calendar as too many people were coming.
He said that during the last 48 hours, extraordinary snowfall has fallen in Murree and according to Commissioner Murree, the record of many decades has been broken due to which such a situation has arisen there.
He said that Kuldana and Barian are the two areas where there is more difficulty and damage has been done and the victims were also present in the area.
Fawad said the Prime Minister had directed the Chief Minister of Punjab to reach Murree immediately and supervise the relief work.
He said that the army has been called, five platoons of the army is working there and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has delivered all machinery there. He said the expressway has been evacuated and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also opened roads in Nathiagali.
"When more people come in less time, there will be difficulties. It is not possible for the administration to manage this situation all of a sudden," he said.
Fawad said that there is a lot of rush in all the upper areas and there is no space. When millions of people arrive suddenly like this, the system collapses so tourists should not go there.
He said that it was unfortunate that politics was being carried out by the opposition even today.
“Instead of being present in the constituency, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was holding a press conference in Rawalpindi and so was Maryam Nawaz.”
"The government is fully alert and the situation is improving. The evacuation of people is underway. We need to manage these things better," he said.
Responding to questions from journalists, he said that this was the first time such an incident had taken place in Pakistan and it was necessary to learn from this issue and move forward.
To a question, he said that he would ask Shehbaz Sharif to be patient now and the requirement of law is that he will go to jail for giving wrong affidavit and next week a case will be filed in the Lahore High Court by the federal government.
Fawad said that Shehbaz Sharif should worry about his seat and should forget to become Prime Minister. “Next time he will not be able to become an MNA because in this case there is a disqualification of five years.”
Regarding accountability, he said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have been convicted, the cases of Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz are in the court and big fish will come out of this pond in the next 6 to 8 months.
He said that if our system was a bit like that of Saudi Arabia, then billions would have recovered so far.
On the announcement of the long march of the opposition, he said if they come to Islamabad, we will give them separate tents and their people will be settled only in 5 to 7 tents.
Shafqat Mahmood while briefing about the meeting of PTI Punjab Advisory Council said that other leaders including Governor Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar attended.
He said that preparations for the local body elections were discussed and we understand the concerns of the workers and the party will move forward with a new spirit.
Referring to education, Shafqat Mahmood said that since the outbreak of Corona, we have done it under the inter-provincial conference of education ministers and we will still make decisions together.
He said that the situation was different in each province but in general if the situation did not get worse then the educational institutions should remain open as much as possible. If the situation got worse then it would have to be closed.
Regarding single curriculum, he said: "We have not stopped anyone from teaching in their own language. We have told the provinces that the content of the single curriculum will be the same but they want to teach in their provincial languages.
He said that the new syllabus is from first class to fifth class and within it our heroes of Pakistan and the world of Islam will be mentioned and we will cover the whole.
