The National Assembly has approved the bill for the upgradation of the arts college.

After the passage of the bill, the nomenclature of the office of principal of the NCA would be changed into vice-chancellor. Now instead of board of governors, the syndicate body would look into the affairs of the university.

The famous arts alma mater of Lahore, National College of Arts was established in 1875.

Dr Murtaza Jaffery, principal of NCA, said that it was due to the efforts of Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood that the NCA was upgraded to the level of university.
