Like other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Istisqa prayers were offered on Wednesday in Dera Ismail Khan district on the direction of the forest department secretary, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the official sources, the first Istisqa prayers were offered at the SDFO office in Dera Ismail Khan.

District Forest Officer (DFO) Shahid Noor and the Wildlife Department officials attended the prayers.

It is learnt that the forests and agriculture are in the grip of a severe drought due to lack of rainfall in the KP province.

People and cattle heads in different areas of the province are forced to migrate due to water scarcity.

Therefore, the provincial government has appealed to the people and government officials to offer Istisqa prayers for three consecutive days for rainfall.
