Inaugurates Saleem Memorial Hospital in Lahore: Announces free medical treatment for poor: Cabinet to have final say on Wapda chairman’s resignation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the state-of-the-art Saleem Memorial Hospital will provide free medical facilities to deserving patients, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The premier was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Saleem Memorial Hospital in Lahore on Sunday. He visited different blocks of the hospital.

He said that the hospital was equipped with international standard machinery. He stated that the medical centre would serve the ailing humanity, besides providing free treatment to the deserving patients. 

The premier boasted that his previous government had made Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) and spent billions of rupees on its construction. He said best doctors were hired and world class facilities were provided at the PKLI. But, he lamented that the project had been put on the back burner for two years due to politics. “What other bigger calamity befall on this nation than this,” he rued. 

Shehbaz said that his previous Punjab government spread Ch Pervaiz Elahi’s 1122 project across the province stressing that personal interests should be transcended for the national interests. He held that building hospital was a big service to humanity. 

Wapda chairman’s resignation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to enlist Wapda chairman’s resignation on the agenda of the federal cabinet’s meeting to be held on next Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday, quoting sources.

According to the TV channel, the cabinet will decide whether to accept or reject the resignation of Wapda Chairman Lt-Gen ® Muzammil Hussain.

The process to appoint a new chairman will be initiated if the cabinet accepts the resignation after thorough discussion on it.
